Sanctuary of Truth, the “wooden castle” facing the sea
The Sanctuary of Truth, one of the most amazing temples in Thailand. It is located on a beach at Cape Ratchavete, very close to Pattaya. Its main structure is 105 meters high and 100 meters wide in each of the four directions.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand has dubbed it as “the majestic wooden castle on the horizon.” From the viewpoint before entering the enclosure you can see how correct this description is, with views of the temple that seems to emerge from the sea and float on the surface.
It is hard to believe that the Sanctuary of Truth is a recent construction and not a few centuries ago, but the truth is that the work began in 1981. This is not the only surprise during the visit. It is built entirely using hard woods, such as teak, without any metal nails.

The joining of the wooden pieces has been done with ancient techniques, such as the use of bolts and wedges, also made of wood. Huge carved figures show the teachings of different religions and philosophies.
Buddhist, Confucianism, Persian and Hindu mythology. We can find scenes from the Hindu epics Ramayana and Mahabharata, tales that speak of good and evil, other representations that confront wisdom with ignorance or that bring us closer to oriental beliefs about truth and eternal happiness.
The Sanctuary of Truth, Pattaya, works every day from 08.00 AM to 06:00 PM. Keep in mind that the entry to the temple area is every thirty minutes, so if you arrive at 08:10 you won’t be able to get inside until 08:30.
