Hansal was born on 13 april 1968 in Mumbai, India. He did his schooling at Rose Manor International school Mumbai. Then he purcued his bachalour of technology in Electronics at DR. D.Y. Patil Institute of Technology in Pune.
Hansal mehta was born into a Gujarati middle class family. But with his hard work and dedication, today he is considered one of the famous filmmakers of India, who has given many hit films and web series. Hansal Mehta started his career in television in 1993 with the show Cooking Show Khana Khazana which aired on Zee TV and it was from this show that the career of famous chef Sanjeev Kapoor started.
Apart from this, Hansal has directed many TV series like ita Amr(1994), Highway (1995), Yaadein (1995), Lakshay (1998), Neeti (1998). Hansal made his debuted as a as a film director with the 1997 bollywood film “jayati”. Which has inspired by the 1984 bollywood film saaranch, but hansal’s film jayati never released in theaters.
Hansal Mehta made the film Dil Par Mat Le Yaar in 2000 and after this film he got his new identity and this film was a hit in Bollywood box office. After which Hansal made many Bollywood films like Chhal in 2002 and Yeh Kya Hota Hai in 2002 and Woodstock Villa in 2008.
After the flop of Woodstock Villa, Mehta took a break from movies for three years, after which he started directing again after three years and made the biographical drama film Shahid, after which the film proved to be a super hit at the box office and this film Hansal was awarded for the National Award.
